County, Visitors Bureau Host Tourism Promotion Workshop

Learn about Hotel Tax funding for promoting overnight stays in Wayne County.

HONESDALE – The Wayne County Tourism Promotion Committee and the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau prepare for a new round of funding in 2020 and will host an important workshop and networking event on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 3 pm, at the Antler Ridge Winery at 654 Park Street in Honesdale.Images of a psychedelic van, a local farmers market, a festival logo and a streetside ice carving.

Since the PA General Assembly revised the legislation a few years ago governing the way Hotel Tax dollars are administrated by the counties, PMVB has been directly supplying support in conjunction with the Committee and the County Commissioners to the non-profit organizations and event-planning partners to bring overnight visitors to Wayne County.

Officials will review how the county markets events on digital, broadcast and print platforms, and PMVB will provide some guidance about how to maximize county tax dollars and provide a greater impact by working together.

A presentation and roundtable discussion begins at 3:15, which will have a direct impact on how the county submits 2020 applications for funding and plans for 2020 projects.

There will be time for questions and networking with other organizations following the presentation.

Antler Ridge and PMVB are sponsoring some food sampling with cash bar or wine tasting. Please RSVP to Vicky Botjer at 570-253-5970 ext. 1300 or email vbotjer@waynecountypa.gov, by Nov. 14.

Applications can also be obtained by e-mailing the Chief Clerk, Vicky Botjer, vbotjer@waynecountypa.gov, or on the PMVB site at https://www.poconomountains.com/about-pmvb/wayne/.
